Marcelle A. Strachan-Mitchell
Recruit Support Officer
Marcelle was appointed a recruitment support officer with the Office of Admissions in January 2007. Her responsibilities include reaching out to prospective students locally and in the wider Caribbean region, as well as coordinating and actively participating in several on and off-campus regional recruitment events. Seeing the initial sparkle in the eyes of youth when inspired to pursue their degree and subsequently witnessing its transformation into a confident graduate, energizes her to continue the good work that she and her colleagues have started.
Marcelle’s journey at SGU began in August 2000 when she pursued her bachelor’s degree in business administration, and her personal commitment to lifelong learning propelled her to complete a master’s degree in international business at SGU in 2009. She believes that the lessons learned while studying and working part-time not only increased her knowledge in a number of subject areas relevant to her career, but more importantly equipped her with the experience and empathy necessary to recruit young and mature prospective students in pursuit of graduate and postgraduate degrees.
Marcelle began as an employee within St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in April 2003 before joining the admissions office. She remains committed to the task of encouraging persons to ‘Think beyond.’
