The School of Medicine at SGU is committed to supporting our medical school students.
We work to create an environment in the school of medicine that will help you thrive before moving on to residency. Upon acceptance to medical school, you will be placed in one of our nine colleges. Each college is a community that includes:
Students enrolled in our School of Medicine program spend two years studying the basic sciences, followed by access to clinical training opportunities at over 70 leading hospitals and health systems in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Entry points are available for students from any education system around the world—including a Four-year program for those entering with a traditional baccalaureate degree, and Five, Six, and Seven-year medical degree tracks for those entering with undergraduate degrees.

St. George’s University is truly an international institution, not only with its diverse student body and faculty but the unique opportunity for students to begin their medical education in Grenada or the United Kingdom. The two paths feature the same curriculum and provide a strong foundation for SGU’s future physicians. The last two years have the option of doing clinical rotations either in the US or the UK.
What Percentage Of Students Pass The USMLE?
89% USMLE Step 1 pass rate for first-time test-takers over the last five years*
*Total results from the five calendar years 2018-2022. First-time pass rate is defined as the number of US students (US citizens/permanent residents) passing USMLE Step 1 on their first attempt divided by the total number of US students taking USMLE Step 1 for the first time within the given time range. In order to be certified to take USMLE Step 1, students are required to pass all basic sciences courses.
90% USMLE Step 2CK pass rate for first-time test-takers over the last five years*
*Total results from the five academic years 2019-2023. First-time pass rate is defined as the number of US students passing USMLE Step 2 CK on their first attempt divided by the total number of US students taking USMLE Step 2 CK for the first time. USMLE Step 2 CK is typically taken upon completion of third-year core clinical rotations.
