Livestock nutrition is included in the veterinary curriculum to aid students in understanding the relationship between nutrients in feeds and the health of livestock including equids. It provides a basic perspective of how nutrition is adapted for production/performance characteristics and provides an understanding of abnormalities that may arise during that process.
