Typically, SGU’s White Coat Ceremony is held for first-term students entering into the four-year Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. This is an important milestone in the lives of students because it marks their entry into these noble professions.

Your family and friends will be able to tune in at sgu.edu/live on the day and a downloadable program with more information about this year’s keynote speaker will be available online to accompany this year’s virtual ceremony.
The Government of Grenada has not yet provided an update on the reopening of its borders. For more information on borders reopening please visit Grenada’s Ministry of Health website. When borders reopen there are many routes into Grenada, and you can use any of the internet-based companies or travel agents to help you. When searching for flights, please use airport code GND for Grenada’s international airport.
Major US and UK carriers normally provide regular service to Grenada, including daily flights from Miami on American Airlines and daily flights from New York via JetBlue. Visit our accepted students travel information page for more details.

When it is safe to do so, St. George’s University Family Weekend provides students and their families with free time for exploring the island of Grenada. In addition to traditional Caribbean activities like snorkeling, hiking the rain forest, and fishing, there are many must see attractions on the island of Grenada, including the Grenada National Museum, Fort George, Fort Frederick, Seven Sisters Falls, Grenada Chocolate Company, Rhum Runner, River Antoine Rum Distillery, and Annandale Falls. Is SGU still hosting Family Weekend/White Coat Ceremony on campus in January 2021?
The White Coat Ceremony for August 2020 and January 2021 terms will be hosted as a virtual event. While we are unable to share in this experience in person in Grenada this year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to invite you to a virtual event to celebrate the beginning of your journey toward becoming a physician.

Will students still receive their white coats?
White coats will be shipped to the address on file of each student. If your address details need updating, please email bookstore@sgu.edu. All other enquires should be sent to familyweekend@sgu.edu

You will be featured with the January 2021 students as that is when you first began Term 1.
