SAMS 532 Small Animal Behavior Selective

A series of presentations in this selective course are intended to give students a working knowledge of canine and feline behavior therapy. The lectures in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course during Term 4 serve as an introduction to this material. This course emphasizes treatment of problem behaviors and effective means of increasing the success of clients in following instructions and guidelines There are 12 lectures in key areas including the medical interview and consultations, client communication, behavior medications, problem behaviors in both dogs and cats, pet loss, and client grief. Laboratories will expand on these issues with case presentations and discussions.There are three “laboratory” sessions for active student involvement in resolving problem behaviors and dealing with angry and distraught clients.
