Director, Medical Student Research Institute

A 2016 graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Michael Montalbano now serves as director of the Medical Student Research Institute (MSRI). In his role, he provides an organizational structure and supervision for faculty-mentored student research activities. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Anatomical Sciences and associate director of Taylor College Grenada in the School of Medicine.

Prior to his role as director of MSRI, Dr. Montalbano served as an instructor in the anatomical sciences department, where he developed content and delivered lectures for undergraduate and online elective courses in the School of Medicine. His areas of expertise and research include, point-of-care ultrasonography, epidemiology, anatomical variations, medical education, and the history of medicine.

Dr. Montalbano received his Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2010 before completing the dual Doctor of Medicine/Master of Business Administration degree program at St. George’s University in 2016. He later went on to earn his Master of Public Health in 2020 from SGU.
