Francesca Ivaldi, DVM, MSc
Associate Professor
Dr. Francesca Ivaldi joined the SGU SVM Faculty in 2006, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.
She has a strong interest in small animal dentistry and surgery, including both soft tissue and orthopedics, and has been the Coordinator of the Surgery and Dentistry Services within the Small Animal Clinic since 2012. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Ivaldi also teaches in didactic and clinical courses, and is involved in research. Clinical skills and physical diagnosis skills are particular interests of hers, and she has developed multiple simulated models and videos to improve students’ acquisition and repetition of small animal physical examination and clinical skills.
Dr. Ivaldi serves as faculty advisor to multiple student groups, including the Student Chapter of the SGU SVM Alumni Association, the Student Chapter of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, and she is very closely involved with the Feral Cat Project and the Surgery Club. She is a member of the AOVet Foundation and the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, and has obtained her Fear Free Certification. She has served on the board of the SGU SVM Alumni Association from 2010 to 2018 in the roles of President and Vice President, and is still closely involved with this organization.
Dr. Ivaldi earned her DVM from St. George’s University, her BS in Biology from the University of Michigan and an MSc in Basic Medical Science from Wayne State University.
