Dr. Kamashi Kumar is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology. Her teaching experience includes Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, with special emphasis on ANS & CNS pharmacology and plant toxicology.
Her major research interests are in the fields of antimicrobial resistance, analysis of antioxidant effects and drug toxicity studies. Currently, Dr. Kumar has been involved with evaluation of antimicrobial efficacies of medicinal plants. In 2002, she received the Young Scientist Award at the third annual Conference of the Indian Society of Pharmacology & Toxicology in recognition of her research work on the topic, “Evaluation of the Efficacy of Chromium against Salinomycin Toxicity in Broilers.”
Before joining SGU, Dr. Kumar worked as a Technical Officer in Research and Development in Avitech Animal Health Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon, India for 2 years.
Dr. Kumar earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore, India (2004), MVSc in Veterinary Pharmacology from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad, India (2001) and obtained her BVSc & AH degree from Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pondicherry University, India (1999).
